Fixing the “Cold Spot” Problem

We decided to tackle this by changing how the filament is wound. By packing the coil a bit tighter toward the edges, we managed to flatten out the heat. The results were pretty eye-opening. The big-name brand had a temperature swing of 12°C across a 2-meter tray. Ours?**Under 5°C.**That means the raisins on the edge dry just as fast as the ones in the middle. No more guessing games.
Getting the Heat Deep Inside
We used high-purity quartz glass because we wanted as much IR energy as possible to actually hit the fruit. But the real trick was the wavelength. We tuned it to the medium-wave spectrum. Why? Because you want the heat to soak deep into the pulp. If it’s too aggressive on the surface, you’ll sear the outside before the core moisture even has a chance to evaporate. Making it Work on the Shop Floor
